RTI Appeal Against Denial of Information by DCP and ACP

On 30th April 2025, citizen Kamlakar Shenoy filed an appeal under the RTI Act against the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) and Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) for not providing required public information.

He claimed that the ACP (Public Information Officer) denied the information wrongly and without applying legal knowledge. Important documents were withheld without valid reason.

He also said the officers are not properly trained in RTI law and asked for their qualification and RTI training certificates to be shared with the public.

Shenoy demanded that RTI hearings should be held publicly and with video recordings to ensure transparency and protect citizen rights.

He pointed out that withholding information is a criminal breach of trust and violates several IPC sections. He requested the appellate authority to issue clear orders on each complaint point.
