Objection to Elphinstone Bridge Closure Without Proper Preparation

Activist Kamlakar Shenoy has strongly opposed the closure of Elphinstone Bridge, warning that past bridge projects in Mumbai have shown repeated failures in planning and execution.

He pointed out several bridges like Hancock, Carnac, Andheri Gokhale, and Sion that were demolished but not rebuilt on time, causing massive inconvenience to citizens.

Shenoy demanded that no demolition should happen until the BMC and Railways prove that everything is ready—designs finalized, permissions received, contractors assigned, and pedestrian paths prepared.

He asked for a binding 18-month timeline, public commitment, and penalty for delays. He also insisted that a safe and continuous pedestrian path must be arranged before any closure.

This complaint highlights the lack of accountability, planning, and empathy shown by top civic officials, and demands legal responsibility if the promises are not fulfilled.
