BMC Officers Ignoring Orders to Meet Citizens

Topic: Complaint Against BMC Officers for Not Following Public Interaction Rules

On 27th May 2025, Kamlakar Shenoy met Mr. Chore (OSD, BMC) to discuss how BMC officers like the Municipal Commissioner (MC) and Additional Municipal Commissioners (Addl MCs) are not meeting citizens as required.

As per official government rules and circulars (from 2000 and 2025), MCs must meet the public every Monday and Friday without appointments. But BMC officers have put up false boards saying they will meet only once a month.

Shenoy requested proper boards be placed outside offices with actual meeting timings, as public servants are duty-bound to listen to citizens regularly.

He pointed out that the failure to follow these rules is a violation of their duty and the Constitution. If officials don’t obey their oath and continue to ignore people, they can be held legally responsible under various IPC sections.

The complaint urges the court to treat this as a serious issue of dishonesty and constitutional misconduct by top BMC officers.
