Summary of Complaint

On May 31, 2025, activist Kamlakar Shenoy (67) and three others, including two senior citizens and one woman, filed a complaint against the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Mumbai Police. They were allegedly detained illegally on May 30 while peacefully visiting the Jt. CP EOW office during public hours to follow up on a ₹3 lakh crore corruption complaint involving MHADA. Despite no wrongdoing, the police were called via Dial 100 and they were taken to Azad Maidan Police Station without being informed of any charges.

The complaint states this act violates several laws, including sections of the IPC like 182 (false information), 342 (wrongful confinement), and 500 (defamation), as well as citizen rights under the Constitution. It highlights the misuse of state power to harass whistleblowers. Video proof has been shared publicly. The complainants seek an FIR, CCTV evidence preservation, and disciplinary action against the responsible officers.
